CampFire Games’ latest catalog entry comes under the guise of a roguelike adventure. Set in a cell-shaded world where magical cats roam the lands, Arcane Blast takes place across a number of arenas, full of deadly enemies with evil intent.
Storyline
After being betrayed by his student, once immensely powerful mage cat. Adrian, finds himself prisoner to the dangerous world of Shadowvillie To find his way home, Adrian must rekindle his craft and rediscover his arsenal of elemental powers.
As you follow our hapless hero through his journey, you will battle the evil forces that inhabit Shadowvillie as you unearth long-buried secrets and master as medley of magical powers along the way.
Arcane Blast takes you threw a magical world of wonder, danger, mayhem and intrigue.
Arcane Blast Gameplay
While each run only last around 40 minutes, Arcane Blast offers the opportunity to play on an endless loop. As you start each new game, you embark on a fresh and unique adventure in which you will uncover brand new powers and abilities through different combinations of attacks and useful upgrades.
The all-powerful feline mages of Arcane Blast source their powers from the seven natural elements of the game’s world. Choose from air, dark, fire, frost, lightning, nature and water as you take on the advancing hordes using fireballs, rolling tsunamis of water, whirlwinds and so much more.
Aside from the generous selection of elements, Adrian is able to use spells to claim dominance in the arena. Furthermore, the further you progress into the game, the more spells will be unlocked, rewarding you for advancement.
While playing Arcane Blast it became increasingly evident that CampFire Games’ aims to offer the player an abundance of variety in terms of how the game is played, and a great deal of focus was placed on encouraging those that take up the challenge of Arcane Blast to explore different combinations of spells and elements to create new devastating attacks. I played the game for a good few hours and was still discovering new and creative ways to clear the arena. This approach brings a lot of replay value to the game, and I, for one, will be spending many more hours in Shadowvillie.
The Colorful World of Arcane Blast
Arcane Blast is presented to us on a vibrant platter of cell-shaded color. The unintrusive color scheme is easy on the eye and works wonders to absorb you into its visually pleasing magical realm. The graphics and the enemies of this roguelike game reminded me very much of the classic RPG, Dragon Quest VI.
