Mario Meets Art in April 2014 –
In addition to offering two solid Mario titles, the Club Nintendo program is going a rather creative route for the April 2014 offering. Trajectile is a DSiWare game you never played that is basically a new type of Bust-A-Move and Art Academy: First Semester is a great way to dip your toe into the art world. Let’s break it down:
Game #1 – Trajectile (3DS eShop, DSiWare)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $5
Availability – April 7, 2014 – May 11, 2014
Summary – Line up shots from the bottom screen to hit targets on the top screen.
Opinion – Mixing Bust-A-Move, Arkanoid/Breakout, Pong, and even Atari’s Combat, Trajectile is the sleeper hit of this month’s Club Nintendo program.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? –Nintendo usually throws in one game each month that no one has played before; Trajectile is it for this month. If you are looking for something new, this is the way to do it.
Game #2 – Super Mario World (SNES on Wii or Wii U Virtual Console)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $8
Availability – April 7, 2014 – May 11, 2014
Summary – Mario journeys through Dinosaur Land in this seminal SNES platformer.
Opinion – This is one of the best platform games of all time.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – By now, you have probably played through Super Mario World in some form or another. But if you have not, you owe it to yourself to play this game.
Game #3 – Art Academy: First Semester (3DS eShop, DSiWare)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $8
Availability – April 7, 2014 – May 11, 2014
Summary – Learn basic drawing techniques with this introductory art tutor.
Opinion – If you have any interest in learning basic art lessons, the Art Academy is one of the best interactive art sims available.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – This DSiWare glorified app was previously available back in September 2013 (and for 50 Coins cheaper) and if you already own Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone then you probably don’t need to spend your coins on this. However, this really is one of the best ways to learn how to draw and paint so do not be hesitant on spending your coins if you are looking to expand your artistic skill set.
Game #4 – Mario Golf (N64 on Wii or Wii U Virtual Console)
Price – 250 Coins, normally $10
Availability – April 7, 2014 – May 11, 2014
Summary – Mario and friends hit the links in the first 3D Nintendo golf title.
Opinion – Not that the N64 version is bad, its just that I prefer the GBC version thanks to the RPG elements.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Sure, if you have extra coins, Mario Golf isn’t a bad way to spend them. Too bad there is no Transfer Pak support.
