Ending Summer with 150 Coiners-
It is the beginning of a new month which means there are 4 new games available through the Club Nintendo program. All the titles this month normally sell for $5 and are offered for 150 Coins. There is also a new Pikmin prize for those with enough coins.
Game #1 – Mario Golf (GBC, 3DS Virtual Console download)
Price – 150 Coins, normally $4.99
Availability – Aug 5, 2013 – Sept 1, 2013
Summary – Create a golfer and level them up RPG sytle.
Opinion – Even though Mario is no stranger to the links, Mario Golf on GBC was the first game to implement light RPG features to enhance gameplay.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – The GBA Mario Golf is far superior to the GBC version, but since Nintendo isn’t offering GBA Virtual Console titles, this is the best game to download this month. Get it.
Game #2 – Brain Age Express: Sudoku (DSiWare, 3DS download)
Price – 150 Coins, normally $4.99
Availability – Aug 5, 2013 – Sept 1, 2013
Summary – Train your brain using different levels of Sudoku.
Opinion – It is simple. If you like Sudoku you will probably enjoy this download. If Sudoku isn’t your think, this will be immediately bypassed.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? Most will skip it but fans will like it.
Game #3 – Wario’s Woods (NES, Wii Virtual Console download)
Price – 150 Coins, normally 500 Wii Points ($5)
Availability – Aug 5, 2013 – Sept 1, 2013
Summary – This Nintendo puzzle game has the player controlling Toad to blow up falling pieces.
Opinion – Wario’s Woods is a fantastic puzzler that was probably overlooked by most NES owners as it was the last published game for the system. However, it is a great game and unlike most puzzle games. Unlike Tetris or Dr.Mario, the player has the ability to fix any errors.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – The aspect to make note here is that this is the NES version of Wario’s Woods, not the SNES version. Even though both games are similar, the SNES version is better simply due to the more advance hardware. However, this really is a great puzzle game once you get over the learning curve. Download it.
Game #4 – NES Play Action Football (NES, Wii Virtual Console download)
Price – 150 Coins, normally 500 Wii Points ($5)
Availability – Aug 5, 2013 – Sept 1, 2013
Summary – Overhead isometric retro football.
Opinion – Even though this was one of the few games to support 4-players simultaneously, it is pretty terrible.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – There are much better ways to celebrate the upcoming football season. This is a title you will definitely want to skip.
Also new to the Club Nintendo program is a Pikmin Tote Bag. Sporting a light beige color and a simple Pikmin design, this bag can hold 20 pounds and has a 2’ loop handle. The Club Nintendo symbol is also tattooed on the lower corner of the sack. This bad boy will set you back 400 Coins though.
The SMTIV + Fire Emblem $30 eShop credit promotion also end at the end of the August so be aware that time is running out to take advantage of this great program.
