Preparing for Smash Bros. –
As we get close to the launch of the new Smash Bros for 3DS, Nintendo has prepared a list of Virtual Console titles to create more hype as gamers wait for this anticipated release. Many of these titles were available via Club Nintendo before but there are some winners in this lot.
Game #1 – Mario Bros. (NES on Wii U Virtual Console)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $4.99
Availability – September 8, 2014 – October 12, 2014
Summary – The original coin collecting co-op/VS pipe maze.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – No. You are better off using 200 Coins to get Kirby Super Star.
Game #2 – Kirby Super Star (SNES on Wii U Virtual Console)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $7.99
Availability – September 8, 2014 – October 12, 2014
Summary – Use Kirby’s copy abilities to stop Dedede. There is a 2 player mode too.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? With pick-up-and-play gameplay, this Kirby title is worth your time and your coins if you have some to spare.
Game #3 – Super Punch-Out!! (SNES on Wii Virtual Console)
Price – 250 Coins, normally 800 Wii Points ($8)
Availability – September 8, 2014 – October 12, 2014
Summary – The sequel to the fan favorite NES boxer.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – If you want to prepare for Little Mac’s return in the upcoming Smash Bros, sure, why not? But like the original, this SNES sequel is built about quick reflexes, trial and error, and each fight is basically one big puzzle.
Game #4 – NES Play Action Football (NES on Wii Virtual Console)
Price – 200 Coins, normally 500 Wii Points ($5)
Availability – September 8, 2014 – October 12, 2014
Summary – Nintendo’s original football sim.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Even though football season has started, NES Play Action Football isn’t the best way to celebrate the 2014-2014 NFL season. Skip it unless you want a history lesson.
Game #5 – Super Mario Bros. (NES on 3DS Virtual Console)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $4.99
Availability – September 8, 2014 – October 12, 2014
Summary – Not to be confused with regular Mario Bros (listed above), this is Nintendo flagship platformer.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – You probably already played this game a million times before.
Game #6 – The Legend of Zelda (NES on 3DS Virtual Console)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $4.99
Availability – September 8, 2014 – October 12, 2014
Summary – Link’s first quest for the Triforce.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Like Super Mario Bros, chances are you already experienced Link’s initial adventure.
Game #7 – Touch Solitaire (DSiWare on 3DS)
Price – 150 Coins, normally $1.99
Availability – September 8, 2014 – October 12, 2014
Summary – Spider and Klondike Solitaire.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – You probably already own some type of free version of Solitaire on your smart phone.
Game #8 – Art Style: PiCTOBiTS (DSiWare on 3DS)
Price – 200 Coins, normally $4.99
Availability – September 8, 2014 – October 12, 2014
Summary – An original puzzle game originally created for DSi players.
Worth Your Club Nintendo Coins? – Outside of Touch Solitaire, this 8-bit puzzler is the only original title available this month. Therefore, if you have played all the available Virtual Console titles before, you might want to try this out.
