TBG Software and Battlefront.com announced today that a beta release of their Scenario Editor for DropTeam is now available. For those of you who don't know about DropTeam it's a game that has you, the player, fighting a war in the far off future. The game uses the 3D Demeter Engine which is, by the way, also the preferred unit of choice for the U.S. Army Research Labs and Northrop Gruman and is compatible with a number of OS systems..and, yes, Linux is one of them. This program allows you total control, or near total control, of the level design. The maps can be up to a 1000 square kilometers(about six hundred miles if I've got the math right) and full of changeable terrain, equipped with it's own gravity and atmosphere and a load of other things along with obtaining data for itself from GIS (Geographic Information Systems) like ArcGis and Terragen.
The Beta is available as free download which will be put up at MyGamer.com so stay tuned for that and more information on DropTeam. Here's the official site, by the way.
