EA has made two announcements in one small package.  First, the only officially licensed World Cup soccer videogame, 2006 FIFA World Cup, has shipped to stores.  Second, EA and FIFA have extended their long-term partnership.

2006 FIFA World Cup gives players the chance to take control of one of 127 national teams, and play in 12 official stadiums.  Players will have to take their favorite team from qualification to World Cup glory in Germany.  The game is also chockfull of extra modes, challenges, and official gear for football crazed gamers.

2006 FIFA World Cup will be rated E for Everyone, and be available on the PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, PC, Gamecube, Nintendo DS, GBA, and Mobile systems.

Along with the release of their new game, EA has extended their agreement with FIFA.  EA will have worldwide and exclusive license to FIFA soccer games across all platforms, mobile phones, and online formats.  This license also includes games for the future FIFA World Cups in 2010 and 2014.

World Cup videogame fans will have to stick with EA for the official football experience.
