Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is the upcoming DLC for the hugely popular FromSoftware hit and it’s going to be massive. With Elden Ring fast becoming a gaming sensation in February, 2022, the time has come where players have exhausted the core game and are hungry for more of the famously frustrating action and FromSoftware have leaped into action and announced more content to satiate the masses and fans couldn’t be happier.
What to Expect from Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
The much speculated Elden Ring Expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree will undoubtedly bring with it more lands to explore, new bosses to overcome and a fresh set of weapons to do so with. With the trailer showing unfamiliar landscapes, we can rest assured that new areas will be opened up to the player and the handful of bosses on show promise a brand new special delivery, straight from FromSoftware’s seemingly bottomless bag of tricks.
Of course, an expansion wouldn’t be an expansion if it didn’t offer a fresh storyline to sink one’s teeth into and Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree doesn’t look set to break the proverbial mold. With a new storyline, we will delve further into the lore embedded in “The Lands Between” and discover more of the many wonders of the fantasy world of Elden Ring.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree – Confirmed Release Date and Price
It was on the 21st of February when Bandai Namco, alongside FromSoftware announced that we were soon to be graced with an Elden Ring DLC gameplay reveal trailer and this promise was delivered on – to epic proportions. Showing a handful of the insanely imaginative bosses that are a staple to the game, the trailer is a feast on the eyes and has fans, the world over, salivating (figuratively, I hope) as they wait in anticipation for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree to finally release on the confirmed date of June 20, this year (2024).
While the $39.99 price tag may seem a bit excessive for what is essentially extra content, the DLC promises to be well worth the price. Those in trepidation surrounding the price-to-content ratio needn’t fear as it seems that you will get what you pay for and more – if you’re a fan of the base game, of course.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree – Storyline
Shadow of Erdtree will introduce Miquella of the Haligtree, a demigod blighted with the curse of eternal youth (probably one of the better things to be cursed with). Saddened by seeing her twin sister, Malenia, (or Malenia the Severed and the Goddess of Rot, on her tax returns forms) riddled with “Scarlet Rot”, Miiquella brought into creation the Haligtree. However, not all went to plan when Malenia was captured by Mohg, Lord of Blood before the tree could grow to fruition.
With the trailer opening with the “hatching” of Miquella from a large egg, it’s easy to assume that she will indeed be the main antagonist in the upcoming DLC. Sadly, little more is known surrounding the actual premise.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree – Summary
Bandai Namco and FromSoftware sure know what they’re doing when putting a trailer together. With my Elden Ring days not far behind me, the 3-minute video has rekindled my love and left me with a frustratingly long wait for its eventual release. Alas, with many more titles set to release in the meantime, I’m sure we’ll all have enough to see us through.
