Matija Biljeskovic wooed the Jacob Javits Center crowd with his stellar gaming performance in the New York Regional Tournament of the first-ever FIFA Interactive World Cup Tournament. Having won the regional finals, Yugoslavian born Biljeskovic headed to Zurich to compete against some of the fiercest interactive gamers to play FIFA Soccer 2005.

Mygamer.com had a chance to chat with the man who represented North American gamers in the inaugural FIFA Interactive World Cup Finals, and earned an amazing second place in the prestigious competition to become FIFA Interactive World Player of the Year.

When did you begin playing video games and how did you come to enjoy them as much as you do?

I first began playing video games in 1988. When I was five, my parents bought me a Commodore 64, which came with a chess and a soccer game on a cartridge.

How did you become involved in the FIFA Interactive World Cup Tournament?

I heard about it through a friend and decided that I had a great chance to win since I was the best FIFA 2004 player in the USA.

How do you prepare for such an event?

I train hard for hours on Xbox Live with my friends.
