I think nobody can really understand how they get so addicted to a certain game. It's a mixture of wanting to beat it and frustration of not being able to. There's a whole science on creating games that people get hooked on, I believe.

No. Never. I HATE in-game purchases, because they play on your competitiveness and frustration from wanting to beat the game. You'd be buying something that's inherently worthless

Unless you're hardcore in love with the game or the developer, buying something, especially something having to do with tech, on day one is probably not a great idea. There are usually bugs and glitches that slip past the testing phase. Also, the price tends to drop as well, so that's a bonus...
