    Awesome free software mega thread

I'd like to make a megathread for some really good free software. I have a couple to recommend. 1st: Paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net/) A really powerful, photo editor. Supports plugins that can add functionality like the ability to open up and save .psd files. 2nd: Blender (blender.org) A...

    Are simulator games getting old?

Ever since Surgeon Simulator, a lot of games have been released like "Farming Simulator 2014," and even "Goat Simulator," and I personally think it's starting to get a bit excessive in the simulation game genre. There are just way too many out there, and it's just getting a bit too repetitive...

What are some good homebrew apps to get for the Wii?

Project M is a mod for Brawl that re-does the game to act more like SSB Melee. It puts back in Melee characters and also re-writes the physics engine to act like that of Melee. It also changes some of the graphics and music, and it also adds some stages too the game. It's meant for people who...

    Laptop for gaming

I used to, but then I switched to a desktop. I was severely limited when it came to laptop gaming, although portability was nice. But for those who are looking for good laptops to game on, but don't want them to be too expensive, get a Lenovo. They're about one of the most reliable computers you...

    Next big game from Valve?

Valve has already had a lot of good games released, but I wanna know: What do you think will be the next big game from Valve? I personally think it could be a Half-Life/Portal crossover, but Half-Life 3 is always a possibility. What do you think?

    Puzzle Adventure Games (Like Myst)

I always love a good puzzle game, especially like Portal. Tapping into that science side of me is what captures me in games. I honestly wish though that they could some how continue the Portal series, even though it's unlikely. But yeah, I do get excited for puzzle games.

What are some good homebrew apps to get for the Wii?

Since the Wii is no longer supported, I've decided to start modding my Wii. I already have the homebrew channel installed, and I have the homebrew browser loaded up too. I've got a couple of apps on it already, like Project M, but is there anything else to get?

What is your definition of "gaming" when it comes to mobile?

The term "gaming" is used pretty ambiguously for a lot of devices, and now that games have moved to mobile devices, a lot of people are calling themselves "gamers." What do you think is "gaming" when it comes to mobile devices? Do you think playing games like Candy Crush should be included too...

    What's your favorite F2P game?

What's your favorite F2P game? I'd prefer that it isn't a Pay-to-win kind of game, but those are allowed nonetheless. Mine's Tribes: Ascend, mostly because the community isn't too small, and it's a great game to play. What about you guys?

    Master Chief Collection?

I haven't picked it up yet, but some early reviews of it show that they dun goofed on the Halo 2 multiplayer. Some text tags were messed up. One image that's been going around is pretty funny, but I can't seem to find it right now. It was an image showing "You are in -1th place." But yeah...

    Hardware for the future?

What do you think will be the hardware for the future of gaming? I honestly think the Oculus Rift, and an improved version of the Kinect or Leap Motion, maybe both combined with a Nod ring, would be pretty awesome for an immersive gaming setup.

What payment model do you prefer for games?

Buy to play or pay to play. Free to play games are nice, but more often than not they do wind up being pay to win games. There are only a couple F2P games that aren't pay to win, but those usually have really small communities and aren't that popular. Microtransactions are honestly the one thing...

    360 controller on PC

Yeah, I have. Wireless controllers require a receiver though, and you can find a cheap one on amazon for less than $15. But I can say that it is nice to be able to sit back and play games on a TV with a controller, and it's good for a lot of games that do have native controller support. Wired...

    Cell Phones

There's a lot to recommend out there, but for flagship phones, I'd say going with any of them is a good choice. If you're looking for a mid range phone that's definitely worth the money, the Moto G is worth taking a look at. But in my opinion, the OnePlus One is the best phone out there.

    Best gaming PC/rig you've seen?

What is the best gaming PC/rig you've seen in person? I saw a really cool one at a conference from NVIDIA. It held three Titans inside, and I believe it had one of Intel's 6-core i7s. Watercooled and everything. It was an absolute beast for gaming, and I couldn't believe it. It was running a...

Do you think Microsoft screwed up with the Xbox One?

Do any of you think Microsoft lost this generation's console wars? I believe so. While the One isn't a bad console, Microsoft just seemed to make it too multimedia oriented, rather than more gaming oriented. And because of that, they skimped on hardware too for some reason. Also, with their...

    Older Gamers

Age doesn't matter to me as long as they're mature, and they can contribute to the team. Maturity is one thing that is pretty important to me when playing with other people, because if they aren't mature, then it's just distracting. I don't really see why people would turn away from older...

Mario Kart or Smash Bros., which franchise is more important for the Wii U?

Anything from the Mario franchise. It's always what people think of when they hear "Nintendo," and because Mario Kart is an exclusive that's really nothing like other games (Think Playstation All-Stars), I think that it will consistently sell with each console.

Have you ever pirated a PC game?

Yes, I have, and I don't regret it. I always support the developer in ways I can, and I usually do buy the game afterwards if I found it to be enjoyable. Piracy is a problem for PC, but it has only grown the PC gaming industry, not hurt it. Most PC gamers complain about the crappy DRM that...

    Worst Classic Game Console flop?

What was the worst classic game console flop, in your opinion? The Apple Bandai Pippin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Bandai_Pippin) was one of the worst IMO, because a lot of people don't remember it because it was so obscure and such a fail, even though it did have some features that...
