Kitsune Tails is a love letter to Mario 3

Kitsune Tails

Kitsune Tails is a love letter to retro-style Mario 3-like platformers, all set in a Japanese mythology and folklore, and designed with all the care and love to make sure fans of that genre really enjoy how it feels to play. Every little jump, slide, and action has had a bunch of thought put into it to make sure it feels exactly the way you want and expect it to. It’s easy to make a platformer, but it’s not easy to make one that’s fun to play!

Also, this game adds a wonderful story of three friends, and even a bit of a love triangle.

There’s plenty of power ups, big scary bosses, and a set of surprising costumes to discover, each granting special new powers to help you get through each level in different ways.

Swim in lava, drill down through blocks, double-jump and then float, throw snowballs to freeze enemies into blocks, and wield a mighty spear, plus more. Fan favorites are already the cute shork outfit that lets you swim and run on water, and enchanted armor that let’s you be a bad ass samurai!

In-between worlds, there’s a village to interact with a charming set of NPCs (maybe even including some of us developers!), and even an arcade filled with several mini-games, that you can play if you like, and they can actually help you out by letting you earn some goodies that will help you in the game’s levels.

If you’re more of a console lover, not to worry – Kitsune Tails is coming to Nintendo Switch, XBOX X|S, and PlayStation 5 sometime early next year.
