Guards II Chaos in Hell (PC) Review

Developed by Battlecruiser Games and published by Hero Craft PC, Guards II Chaos in Hell is a turn-based adventure title that takes the player on a journey into the deepest pits of Hell itself. Not being the greatest of fans of turn-based games (other than the classic Xbox 360 title, Might & Magic: Gems of War, of course), Guards II never held much appeal to me at first sight. With that being said, I did hold an instant appreciation for the bright, retro-esque graphical style and the era of high fantasy in which the game takes place. Attracted to the bright graphical style like the proverbial moth to light and drawn in by the world of magic where “there be dragons”, I decided to take…

Endzone: A World Apart (PC) Review

Developed by Gentlymad Studios and published in a collaboration between Assemble Entertainment and Whisper Games, Endzone: A World Apart is a post-apocalyptic city-builder game set against the backdrop of a radiation riddled planet. With the news of a sequel on the horizon, I thought it the perfect time to share my thoughts surrounding this widely loved title. In a Post-Apocalyptic World There was Little Hope – Until Now It was 2021 when an economic disaster plunged the planet into chaos and disorder. A lucky few were able to escape to the safety of an underground facility, where they have since built a community of there very own. Some 150 years later, it’s time for man to emerge from the safe embrace of the facility and…

    Police Shootout (XSX) Review

While Games Incubator have been responsible for some decent titles, Police Shootout sadly isn’t one of these. Don’t get me wrong; on paper the game looks to pack a punch with an interesting premise with some equally interesting mechanics. However, actually delving into the game and stepping through that thin veneer of an interesting concept unveils an array of minor irritations that together ruin the overall experience. Yes, Police Shootout does have its saving graces but all in all, the bad sadly outweigh the good. Police Shootout – Gameplay With its lazy title, “Police Shootout” isn’t even a wholly accurate title and, if anything, they have sold themselves short here. Yes, a lot of the game is centered around both the police and, indeed, shootouts,…

Wyrmhall: Brush and Banter (PC) Review

Developed and published by Leafy Games, Wyrmhall: Brush and Banter takes us on a journey far beyond the bounds of sanity and into unearthly realms of strange creatures, magical beings and ridiculously dangerous artifacts. With just a few short hours of game time to offer, Wyrmhall: Brush and Banter may seem a little expensive with its $10 price tag. However, with such a diverse range of interesting characters to meet along the way, this heartwarming title makes up for what it lacks in longevity with some unforgettable characters and an interesting concept. Gameplay The concept of Wyrmhall: Brush and Banter will never sound great on paper, but it will doubtlessly surprise you nonetheless. What we’re here offered is a relaxing experience that keeps you gripped…

Massacre at the Mirage (PC) Review

Massacre at the Mirage completes a trilogy of nostalgia-steeped horror video games by my new favorite indie software house, Tainted Pact. Focussing on the retro vibes of the 90s era horror scene, TP have delivered a third game that works in different way to take the player back to their younger years (which, ironically, are their older years). Three Games, Three Different Approaches With the unholy trinity of Terror at Oakheart, Suffer the Night and now Massacre at the Mirage; Tainted Pact have managed to bring us three unique titles that serve up their very own brands of old school horror and in their very own ways. Terror at Oakheart brought us a charmingly horrific side-scrolling adventure title; Suffer the Night, a text-based-adventure-cum-FPS and now…
