Timber and Stone (PC) Review

Introduction If you aren’t actively involved in the Indie community, games such as Timber and Stone may not be on your radar. For which, I say, “shame!” Timber and Stone combines elements of 3rd Person RPGs, God-like ideals, and civilization-building/sandbox goals. Somewhat of a combination of Towns and Minecraft–oh, that ever-so popular game–Timber and Stone completes the puzzle with difficult gameplay and enchanting graphics. Developed by a single person, Robert Reed, Timber and Stone started off on Kickstarter and received massive amounts of crowd-funding, totaling eighty-eight and a half thousand dollars. With such a budget, we should see clockwork updates for a foreseeable future. Timber and Stone – Graphics If any of you have read my reviews before, you’re probably aware of my affection for this graphical…

Wayward (PC) Review

Introduction It’s been a while since a solid representation of a Roguelike RPG has entered the market. Sure, they’re out there, but few are to the of the same caliber as Wayward. Reminiscent of such games as The Odyssey for the Mac and Diablo for the PC and Mac, Wayward brings its own ideas to the already-set table. Standing somewhat alone with its unique crafting system and free play-style, hopefully something great will come of this currently beta game. To note, it’s being developed and published by Unlok, a small-time game company based in Canada. Wayward – Graphics Although referencing the same graphical style as many of those original Roguelike RPGs, Wayward seems to freshen it up for the society used to life-like beings and…

Jones On Fire (Android/iOS) Review

Introduction We’re all aware of the platformer games that seem to be storming the mobile market, yet it’s unusual to find one that’s original. Jones On Fire is just that, an original game with clever aspects and ideas. While the storyline is short and sweet, Jones is fighting a monster of a fire by saving kittens and dodging obstacles, it’s the gameplay that makes you stay. Jones On Fire – Graphics More prominent in the past few years, Jones On Fire’s graphics seem to follow the same pattern as many others: tending to prefer simplistic, cubic designs, rather than pseudo-real graphics. However, I’m not complaining; as Jones On Fire seems to take this common concept in and make it its own. A mix of colors…

Harvest Moon: A New Beginning (3DS) Review

Introduction The Harvest Moon series has been around this the beginning of the gaming industry, featured originally on the SNES under the simple name of “Harvest Moon,” this farming simulation game has been the inspiration for many others of its kind and has essentially owned its market. Most of the stories are the same, you inherit a farm and must save the town from destruction. While that may be fairly generic of a plot, they’ve always added a little spice to the mixture, so it’s a fresh experience each time! Harvest Moon: A New Beginning (ANB) is no different. Little changes in the mechanisms and style have brought an entirely original play-through to the genre.   Harvest Moon – Graphics Harvest Moon: ANB’s presentation follows…
