Aurora Technology, a game developer based in china, has frozen all accounts of female characters in their MMO King of the World. Aurora’s stance is that only female players can play female characters in their game, and all account are frozen until female players can have a webcam conversation with the team to prove their “biological sex”.
While this effectively bans all people from playing female characters altogether, it would be interesting if any women went through the trouble of setting up a webcam and then getting in contact with the team to prove themselves. The entire process sounds amazingly over complicated, and totally shady.
