Bethesda Game Studios pushed the envelope for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion even further today by announcing the cast of screen and stage legends who will lend their voices in their upcoming title.
Patrick Stewart will lead the lineup with his role as Tamriel?s Emperor. Better known as Captain Jean-Luc Picard or Professor Charles Xavier, fans can expect Stewart?s performance to add much to their gaming suspension of disbelief.
Playing the role of the Emperor?s lost son is Sean Bean. Bean is most familiar to audiences as Lord Boromir in the famed Lord of the Rings trilogy. Though a rookie to the video game industry, Bean has starred in his fair share of films such as Patriot Games, Ronin, Goldeneye, and National Treasure.
“Oblivion is something unique, an epic entertainment experience unlike
anything I had seen before,” said Bean. “I decided this was a project I
really wanted to work on creatively and I hope fans of the game enjoy
the results.”
Playing the role of villain, Terence Stamp?s character is bent on Tamriel?s destruction. Stamp starred as Supreme Chancellor Valorum in Star Wars: Phantom Menace and also as General Zod in the classic Superman films. This is also Stamp?s first step into voice-over work for video games.
“Having never done voice work for a video game before, I really had no notion of what to expect,” said Stamp. “Bethesda did a great job in providing the tone and theme for the character and it was fun to give life to the villain in the story, who is a very thoughtful man from a different line of kings who seeks to realize his own vision for the
empire.”
Bethesda previously announced that Wonder Woman, aka Lynda Carter is vocally cast in the game as well.
“We wanted to work with voice talent that really captured the emotion and drama of the game’s story,” said Todd Howard, executive producer for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. “Quite honestly, we wrote the parts with these individual actors in mind. It’s an honor to have them lend their talents to the project.”
