Since the launch of Sony’s PSP in Japan there have been numerous reports of dead pixels showing up on the new handheld’s screen. The inactive pixels appear as either black or white and are invisible while playing games but become extremely noticeable when displayed against white or black backgrounds.
Sony representatives suggest trying the handheld for a few weeks, then contacting SCEA…
“If you find the spots are interfering with gameplay/video viewing during this period, we will support the various elements of [the PSP] warranty,” If a PSP is “determined to be defective” the company will see to the “repair or replacement of this product [the PSP] with a new or refurbished product at SCEA’s option.”
Each PSP does come with a 1-year warranty according to page 125 of the owners’ manual.
