Sony Home Pictures Entertainment will release four new movie titles on the UMD video disc format, which will be playable on the PSP system. Produced in 16:9 widescreen mode and using advanced AVC compression, Sony will bring [i]XXX, Hellboy, Resident Evil 2, and Once Upon A Time in Mexico[/i] to the new format for both North American and European systems.
“Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is proud to play a pioneering role in the introduction of this revolutionary new concept,” said SPHE President Ben Feingold. “As the first fully integrated portable entertainment system, PSP will offer consumers an exciting new movie experience. We look forward to making movies on PSP a success with retailers throughout the world.”
All four movies are slated to ship on April 19.
