Having a look at this month’s line-up for Xbox Game Pass releases, it seems that Christmas is set to come a little early for those lucky enough have a subscription to the service. With the likes of Far Cry 6, Remnant: From the Ashes and Rise of the Tomb Raider set to join the ranks, December is looking to be a fruitful month for gamers.
Far Cry 6
Since 2004, Far Cry has been a go-to for open-world FPS fans. Since the first game was released, Ubisoft’s hit franchise has gone on to improve the games with every fresh installment. While consoles have taken huge technological leaps, the software giants have remained up to speed with their releases and it shows.
Playing the token evil dictator this time around, we have Giancarlo Esposito (Gus from hit series, Breaking Bad). With his son, Diego, Anton Castillo (Esposito) is intent on ruling the tropical island paradise, Yara. Stepping into the battle-beaten shoes of a former soldier named Dani, you must fight alongside a guerrilla movement in a revolution to topple the oppressors and free Yara from their tyrannical grip.
With the Far Cry franchise being so popular, there’s little doubt that this will come as great news to many. Sadly, however, you will have to wait until December 14 if you want to play the game without forking out the $50 price tag.
Remnant: From the Ashes
Remnant: From the Ashes has already made its return to Xbox Game Pass. This post-apocalyptic third-person survival shooter throws you into a world swarmed with invading mutated monstrosities. Fighting alone, or alongside two friends, you must fight the hordes to reach a tower that seems to be the epicentre of the invasion to nip the invasion in the bud by, quite literally, taking out the root.
Alongside Remnant: From the Ashes, we have also been treated to Remnant 2; which sold over one million units within a week when it went on sale this June. A tried and tested shooter and its vastly popular sequel released on the same day will open the games up to a fresh audience and increase server activity for the more seasoned players.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Rise of the Tomb Raider is the eleventh offering in the iconic Lara Croft franchise. This time around, Lara travels across Mexico and Peru in search of a mysterious artifact, The Dagger of Chak Chel as she follows in her late father’s footprints.
In Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara Croft continues her journey, haunted by the events of the past. Following in her father’s footsteps, she seeks the lost city of Kitezh and the secret to immortality hidden within. Racing against the shadowy organization Trinity, Lara navigates treacherous landscapes, battles hostile wildlife, and unravels ancient mysteries.
As is typical with Tomb Raider games, Rise of the Tomb Raider is rich with intricate puzzles, intense action and a gripping narrative.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is coming to Xbox Game Pass on December 5.
