Based on a Korean brand, Uzzuzzu My Pet: Golf Dash is essentially a glorified Mario Party mini game about a fun, casual, and easy-going mini golf experience.
Instead of putting a golf ball, the player directly controls the golf ball by holding the analog stick in a any direction, then launching it by pressing “A”. The longer the button is held, the stronger the shot. Unlike mini golf, strokes are not counted. Instead, the player just needs to reach the goal. Not having a timer or stroke counter makes all gameplay stress free and highly approachable. Most stages are completed in 30 seconds or less too, so progress is constant.
Occasionally, gameplay will slightly change like launching toilet paper Angry Birds-style, controlling a pizza to reach the oven, or flipping a gas can to the exit point while avoiding hazards like Frogger. So this isn’t just about knocking a golf ball into a hole, there are other creative twists along the way.
The simplified 3D shapes suit the friendly, cartoonish nature of the gameplay, as does the soundtrack. However, it seems like a missed opportunity that there is no multiplayer. A race-to-the-finish mode for four players using a single Joycon seems like a no brainer, but instead solo players can grind dozens of stages, broken down by category.
There are built-in Achievements but they don’t reward the player with any unlockable content or upgrades. Therefore, Golf Dash is a limited experience but can offer some mindless, short burst fun that is best suited to younger players that want to play with a casual digital toy without penalty.
