The hardest ones for me were the X-Series games on the GBA, but I think a lot of that had to do with the sprites being bigger or the amount you can see being far less than on the console games.

Heroes and Castles. This game is so great. It made me look at mobile games in a completely different light. For me it is basically a console game on your phone. Loved it so much I bought the first gen iPad mini because playing it on my iPhone was just too small. Can't wait for H&C 2.

I think DOOM still holds up great today. The only thing you really have to get used to is the lack of vertical aiming. It's still very playable and very fun. It's a type of game you don't really see much these days, with the type of levels and item collecting gameplay it has for an FPS.

I always thought someone could make a cool fighting game out of Spartacus. They could have a story mode like the new Mortal Kombats maybe with a little more interaction with the main game being a fighter based on arena fights.

I've never played the Mass Effect series. I played half of the first one back when the game came out. After that, I haven't touched any of the games. It sucks because I always hear great things about the series and the DLC it has to offer!

Well the Mount and Blade series are some great games. They're open world Medieval sandbox-style with a unique combat system fairly true to actual warfare. A great deal of fun and people should own at least one of them.

The Battlefield series has a huge and very talented modding community.

Race for the Galaxy is great (I think best) with two players. It's widely available and pretty cost effective as well, and has lots of expansions if you find you really get into it. The symbology of the game might seem like a barrier at first, but it comes with great player aids that help out a lot.

Border Control: Awesome game. The concept its quite original. Its a kind of game that i've never played before. Its hard to explain why this game is so good, but just read the reviews and you'll see that almost no one says anything bad about this game.
