Classic Games You Hated

I'm guessing most of us already know of the most beloved games in classic console history such as Mario, Contra, Sonic, etc. but I'm also very curious about the retro games that you hated, the ones that for one reason or another just made you despise it, whether it is due to the design, the music, or just the sheer frustration of being badly designed.

I remember once being very excited to play a Simpsons game on the Genesis but as soon as I started playing it and realized that it was just terrible and all over the place. It didn't even really feel like a Simpsons game and instead it just felt like just another generic, poorly made game with Simpsons characters in it.

What classic games did you hate the most?

Oh! Finally, something I can answer with as much vindication as I want. I would go off on a tangent but lets just call it Batman. To be more specific, Batman: Return of the Joker. I loathed this game with a passion unfitting of a child at the age of which I played it. Fortunately, I don't remember much except for my loathing of it. However, that's not the only classic game I despise. Yet again, this game can be summed up by it's title: E.T. That's right, E.T. I think it's existence is a punishment to consumers everywhere. Of course there are other games Like Superman 64 and Ninja Gaiden II, but I can't stand them for different reasons.

I hardly bought crappy games because I use to read reviews and played them before buying. But if I had to put my finger one one game in particular, it would be street fighter special edition for the genesis. It was bad compared to the SNES counterpart. The grainy voices was awful. It was bad.

Mario Party on Nintendo 64. Don't get me wrong, the game is amazingly fun, but who the hell came up with having to twist the joystick on half the mini games?! The middle of my hand was a skin-less, bloody mess for years...

On a more serious note, I've never "hated" a game because when I lost interest I just stopped playing it forever and forgot about it. How to you even get to the point of hating a game?

I don't think I actually hated any of them. I just didn't play the ones I didn't like. Well, okay, in more recent times, I guess I "hate" the ones that can actually give me motion sickness.

I sort of hated how short DBZ games were when I was a child. I loved playing it but the story mode was so short that I finished it an hour after I bought it. I hated it. Kinda makes me regret buying it.

Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts never got into JRPG'S and personally can't see why people find them so interesting.

The game I hated the most back in the day was Asteroids. I could never get a handle on controlling the ship because it went up down and sideways and I always got turned around and confused. I hated the game back in the day and I've tried again to play it years later on an emulator and I find I still hate it with a passion.

I can't get into the classic Legend of Zelda games. No idea why, but I just can't enjoy them. I've tried the originals and the more recent ones for Wii.

This wasn't ever really a classic, but the worst games I've had were always Cat in the Hat as a kid. I love Dr. Seuss, and the games were of his character, though a totally different interpretation, which is probably why I ended up with those horrible Cat in the Hat games.

That god awful puzzle bobble. Tetris is boring, and those more then obvious hidden treasure games  good grief!

Even as a kid I thought Sonic was overrated and kind of boring.

His premise is "go fast!" but a lot of the first game isn't going fast, he can't even dash.

Sonic 2 was good, I still like that one. It's faster he has his dash and the casino is neat.

Sonic 3 I feel like things started getting bloated even then.

I forgot about this game. I can't believe it didn't cross my mind earlier. I hated Pac Man. I didn't see the point of gobbling up little dots and running away from ghost. Didn't seem fun to me. Played it maybe twice in the arcades. The Atari 2600 version had to be the worst arcade to console version ever made.

I really couldn't stand this Ultra Man game we had for the SNES.

And, while I love the Harvest Moon series, I really just... don't like the original one. I'm glad they fixed all of the problems with it (and continue to create new things to do) but the original was awfully boring. Extremely. I was excited to play it, then realized I was bored to tears.
