Do you ever get addicted to games you can not understand why?

I downloaded the Kim Kardashian game a few months ago because I heard a lot of people saying it was really addictive, I must admit I was dubious if I would be interested but as it was a free download I thought why not give it a try.

The game for anyone who has not downloaded it is basically about you having an avatar you can dress up and change the hair style on who you roughly guide through modelling jobs and onto other jobs as you progress. You date and get a partner, now it starts out being alright but you soon learn that most of the items cost a fortune to buy and the in app purchase cost is very expensive. I read one blog where someone said they had spent $200 on it.

It is very addictive trying to move through the jobs and moving your dating forward towards getting engaged and married and here is the downfall if you do not finish the jobs with full reviews you loose fans, if you do not keep going on constant daily dates your partner leaves you, and that includes days you are not logged in! I went away for two nights and I was divorced when I got back! The energy does not recharge anywhere near fast enough and to compensate you find yourself tapping on places where extra energy maybe hidden in an attempt to complete the jobs.

I keep wondering to myself why I am so addicted to doing this but looking at the pages I am not the only one!
Is there any games you are addicted too that you can not work out why?

I think nobody can really understand how they get so addicted to a certain game. It's a mixture of wanting to beat it and frustration of not being able to. There's a whole science on creating games that people get hooked on, I believe.

I don't really get too addicted to something. I know how to set limitations and boundaries, and I also know there's a fine line between playing for fun and binge playing.

But yeah, sometimes people who are going through this kind of addiction would stop and ask themselves why they're obsessed with this. I guess there's really no definite answer to that.

Haha I know what you mean! I actually know that I'll get really addicted to certain games so I tend to try to avoid them in the first place. Like, I've watched friends of mine playing Minecraft and I just know that that way madness lies. So I'm gonna wait until after my uni exams in the summer before I let myself have a go, hopefully I can get it all out of my system before school starts again in September...

I would agree with that it is certainly goals in some games but others for me it's just building something and moving forward with it.

I would not say obsessed, I was able to go away and not play it but very much addicted to it as in I enjoy playing it but do not understand why I enjoy it because when I look at the game I think well there is nothing much to it. Does that make sense?

I am housebound a lot so for me I do have a lot of time on my hands as well mind so on rough days I do find myself playing a lot more than I would normally lol.

Have you never had a game you enjoyed so much you could not put down?

I don't mind having a bit of an addiction to them if there is a nice storyline, I feel a certain satisfaction getting somewhere with some and I am able to put them down when I need to. I think if I was not then I would have to avoid them too :) I am currently playing a kitchen one where I have to make food and decorate the kitchen, Hay Day which is farming one and this one which is the only one of the three I can't get my head around why I am enjoying it so much lol.

I think that addiction to games happens to people who need to fill in a void in their life, but that might not always be the case, as I used to be addicted to World of Warcraft even when my life was going along really well. I just tried it once, and BOOM!, before I knew it I had become addicted.

I don't think addiction can be explained, anyways. It's a normal thing.

This is very true for me especially when it comes to mobile games. I never was all that fond of cute type of games but somehow when it comes to mobile games I'm okay with it, and I even get addicted to many of them. I suppose it's just the simplicity of it all that really hooks me but still I find myself playing it more than less casual games sometimes and I wonder why.

Yeah mobile games are the worst. I guess it's because you pretty much always have your phone or whatever on you wherever you go? I know that whenever I have more than, say, a minute to wait anywhere, I'm always getting my phone out and playing around with it :)

I had a long hospital appointment today and I had to laugh as I had a similar observation about mobile devices, in the waiting room there was a large mix of ages, we had to drink a liquid and wait for just over an hour so there were a lot of us sat around. The older generations all had books with them or papers, the middle and younger generations every single one of us was on a mobile device be it a kindle, tablet or phone. I did have a giggle to myself about it.

The only game I really found that addictive and didn't know why was Big Mutha Truckers. It's quite an old game which I played on PC/Windows. I'm not quite sure what I found so appealing about it, it's not exactly an outstanding game, but I really enjoyed and couldn't stop playing it until I'd finished it.

I get addicted to stupid little puzzle games. They are so simple in graphics and everything else, but I love the challenge of them. I was that kid in high school that has Tetris on her TI-81 calculator. Yeah, I'm that kind of nerd.

I dealt with a video gaming addiction once, but that was because I was a great player at that particular game. I don't get addicted to games for random reasons, though. If I'm good at something, then I'll strive to be better, but I'm not going to waste my time on games that are nothing more than impulse plays with no real reason behind those impulses.

I get addicted to games when they beat my butt. It's so frustrating, so when I finally beat them (IF I do) it's like YEEEEEAAAAAH!! TAKE THAT!!!

BUT, never would I spend money on them. I dont care. I think the people that spend hundreds of dollars on gaming add-ons should be doing spending it on something a little better than that. Those are also the kind of people that cant go to casinos. It IS an addiction.
