Kurruptions Rants

Ok, I read most of the rant. I share some of your feelings Kurruption. I have been very fond of Stephen King's Dark Tower series. The seventh and last book came out many months ago. I got the book for Christmas. But I still haven't read it yet. Because once I do, it's over. There's no more. There is a great line from Calvin and Hobbes where Calvin is quoting his dad about a very generally held idea. Calvin says something like: "Dad says that sometimes the anticipation of something is greater than the thing itself." I am a firm believer in this. Often times I will purposefully delay something because I am looking forward to it so much. Once you have experienced it, you can never do so again for the first time. And there are many things I would love to be able to do again for the first time: play Myst and Riven, read The Fountainhead, and see Team America. I can't, barring some brain injury. I will probably delay things with the new HP as well. I didn't read 5 until the very end of last year.

On the flipside, though, I can understand wanting to participate in something early. Recently, for me, my choice to do this is because I want to support whatever it is. I pre-ordered Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, because I wanted the game to do well. I saw Fantastic 4 on the second day of its release because I wanted to contribute to opening weekend box office (which seems to determine the fate of the world more and more these days).

So I can understand getting a product early. What I can't understand, though, is wanting to experience it immediately. I don't see why people would want to get HP and then read it all in one sitting on the first day. Then it's over. You waited however long for this moment, and then you experienced it as quickly as possible. I guess I just like savoring the moment. Also, I am slow ass reader, so even if I read a book straight it would take me several days to finish anyway. But still, I just don't understand it. But then again, there are many things in this world which I do not.

Speaking as one of those speed readers...I want to know what happens! It took every bit of willpower I possessed not to skip to the end and see what happened. I also reread books I love and it is easy for me to recapture that feeling one gets when reading it for the first time. In fact as we speak I am sitting next to the fourth harry Potter book. I intend to reread 4,5, & 6 asap.

True there were no spoilers in the rant, just a twist, I was going to actually include who really dies, but then I remembered an old episode of the simpsons. Homer and Marge walk out of the Return of the Jedi, there is a huge line and Homer says out loud "wow, Darth Vader is really Luke's father, I never saw that coming"

I can understand prepaying, and seeing movies the week it's released, I do that too, hell I already completely prepaid for Twilight Princess, but I was really pissed about the whole midnight thing. Truthfully I could give a crap, I just hate coming out of work at 2 or 3 in the morning.

Kurruption, you should have met them all at the door with a bible in your hand, telling them how they were all going to hell. That the pope cursed Harry Potter and all those who read of his heathen deeds. That they should repent and read the Left Behind series instead.

That would have been funny.

Either that or stand at the door shouting false information like, "Hagrid kills Voldemort and takes his spot as the head of the Death Eaters!" Or maybe something a little more plausible. Spreading fasle rumors is always fun!

wait wait wait, I heard this one, but I think it was a kmart, and we are talking about andre 3k from the forums right, or are we talking andre 3k from rap group outkast, damn forum andre, you non original bastard!!!

Dammit, could someone translate demi's post for me? I just suck with the smilies. I know it holds the key to understanding this juicy bit of gossip that only we on the forums would care about. Unless it is the Outkast Andre. That could be big news.

whoa whoa whoa hold on a sec...Walmart! K-Mart! Please I have more class than to have sex anywhere near those heonous chains of the damned. As for the rest of the rumour, all I will admit is that I'm responsible for Andre's absence. I'm sure your sick and twisted minds can come up with something more interesting than what really happened.

wow, you and katie, I'm sure wijg must be crushed,

I'm pretty sure he's going to be reenacting a certain scene from High Fidelity, he's going to be outside of katie's window, it's dark and pouring outside, and wijg starts screaming, "Katie, Katie" Katie looks outside through her curtain, and standing by her is andre, wijg, crushed, screams agian, "Katie, you fucking whore let's work it out"

That scene rules, quick everyone who knows what I'm talking about, top 5 songs for "getting it on"

wijg knew gettng into this that I never keep to one man for too long. Besides, my philosophy is the more the merrier. The boys don't mind sharing.
