Figuring out that you don't have to blow your damn lungs out in Mario Kart DS's battle mode; instead, you can just make various grunts and other abrupt noises that work way better. However, finding a socially acceptable "noise" is gonna be tricky. :/

Calling EB and putting your name on the wait list for Animal Crossing Wild World, then realizing you gave them the wrong number, calling back, and finding out they have one copy, picking it up and getting a DS with a gift card from Christmas. That rocks.
Going to your fiancee's parents' place on Boxing Day (December 26th) and getting an espresso maker (which you've always wanted but could never justify purchasing) and a cheque that covered most of the purchase of a PS2.
