Konami Digital Entertainment America announced plans for a truly unique promotional partnership for the video game industry. Konami will partner with 24 Hour Fitness, and their fitness clubs around the nation, to help kids and adults get in shape while having fun. 24 Hour Fitness will add [/i]Dance Dance[/i] Revolution to their Kids? Clubs, and Konami will package a 30 day pass to any participating 24 Hour Fitness in their [i]DDR Extreme 2[/i], for PS2, and [/i]DDR Ultramix 3[/i], for Xbox, bundle packs.
“Bringing the health and fitness benefits of DDR to 24 Hour Fitness is an unbeatable combination in helping kids and adults stay in shape while having fun,” said Clara Gilbert, Director of Business Partnerships at Konami Digital Entertainment – America.
DDR has sold more than 3 million copies since its debut on North American game consoles in 2001, and has garnered praise for helping people of all ages lose weight and get in shape. A Workout Mode, that allows players to see calories burned and monitor a fitness regiment, is included in each version of DDR. Some school districts in the United States have added DDR to their physical fitness curriculum. It has also been used as a tool for research on fighting childhood obesity.
24 Hour Fitness will add DDR to their new club grand openings. The 30 day passes will be included in [i]DDR Extreme 2[/i], which launched at the end of September, and [i]DDR Ultramix 3[/i], when it launches in November. The pass will be good for a 30 day membership through March 2006.
