Parasight: Chlorophyll Worms (PC) Review

The quirkily named Parasight: Chlorophyll Worms sees you stepping into the shoes of a heroic young girl as she struggles to survive a dangerous virus on the faraway planet of Velasterham. Developed by indie software house, Salemir Games, Chlorophyll Worms is set for release on Steam on July 24, 2025.

Appearances Can be Deceptive

The first thing that struck me about Parasight: Chlorophyll Worms was the visual style. The barrage of vibrant color melded with the busy, cluttered scenes to create an assault on the senses. To be honest, it does take a little time to get used to; it’s a different approach than the usual stream-lined minimalistic art we all know and love, but not necessarily in a bad way. In fact, once your eyes have to the ocular onslaught, the scenes of unorganized chaos quickly become one of Parasight: Chlorophyll Worms‘ many quirks and charms.

Being a “gamer of age”, I should have long since learned that appearances are – in no way – an indication on the overall quality of the game, but I still find myself falling into that way of thinking, from time to time. Parasight: Chlorophyll Worms stands as yet another reminder that first impressions aren’t always to be believed.

Choose the Class that Suits You

Despite the air of simplicity that Parasight: Chlorophyll Worms exudes, there’s a reasonably complicated RPG element threaded throughout the game. Boasting over 250 items, this whacky RPG-rogue-like title offers an array of weapons and armor to allow you to fight through the plague-ridden lands of Velasterham. Choose from an arsenal of axes, swords, bludgeons and shields to perfectly suit your preferred style of play.

Not only does Chlorophyll Worms offer such diversity in weapons and equipment, it also allows you to choose from a generous selection of classes. Here we see the bare bones of any RPG game adding even more flexibility to how you tackle the game.

  • Knight: the knight grants you mastery in all weapon types. Handy with a sword and shield and adorned with shiny armor, the knight is your bread and butter “warrior” class
  • Mage: while weak in combat when things get close and personal, the mage class allows you to cast powerful spells from afar, wrecking magical havoc on anyone that stands in your way
  • Priestess: a holy warrior with a set of holy spells. The priestess is a healing type character that calls upon the heavens to aid her on her journey
  • Witch: hubble, bubble, toil and trouble. This class name speaks for itself. The witch, a master in the dark arts, fights with evil intent. Be careful, however, with dark magic come dark consequences
  • Thief: nimble on her toes and deadly with a dagger, the thief is a sneaky warrior that relies on speed and guile over muscle
  • Ranger: wielding a magical bow that doesn’t rely on physical arrows, the ranger is a master of the woods. While this class is deadly from afar, they are equipped with a whip for devastating hand-to-hand combat

System Specifications

Furthermore, Parasight: Chlorophyll Worms won’t require a bank-breaking PC to play. Requiring just 4GB of RAM, a dual core processor and a lowly storage space of 100mb, it’s playable on just about any PC that doesn’t come equipped with a crank handle.
