August has so far been a pretty slow month for video game releases. Despite Star Wars: Outlaws being sat in the pipeline for its imminent release this month, August hasn’t brought much to the table. However, as the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer, September should be a fruitful month for new games.
To set you up for the month ahead, I have compiled a list of what I perceive to be September’s biggest and best releases. As always, this list is born from opinion. If you feel there should be a game here that I’ve failed to include, drop a comment below.
EA FC ’25
After FIFA and EA had a disagreement regarding contracts, FIFA’s name was dropped from the franchise and the game rose from the ashes with a brand new moniker, EA FC. Despite the rebranding, little changed with the world’s largest soccer franchise, with EA FC ’24 offering up more of the same – for the umpteenth year in a row.
We have heard it all before, but the boys and girls at EA HQ have promised us a deeper career mode among many other features fresh to the franchise, alongside a return of the much-loved origin stories that we saw in FIFA 17. This story mode will allow you to step into the shoes of a young protégé as they climb the ranks of professional soccer. Alternatively, you can take the reigns of a former top flight player, coming back into the game after an almost career ending injury.
EA FC 25 is due to land on September 20, with early access starting a week beforehand.
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2
Set to land on September 9, Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 is a sequel we have all been waiting for. The game will take place centuries after the events of the first game and our stocky hero, Captain Titus, has undergone an initiation process called Rubicon Primaris and has finally become a bona fide Primaris Space Marine. However, his exploits of the earlier game have earned him a demotion to Lieutenant.
Those of you that entered the Warhammer franchise in those early days of table-top gaming will find a nostalgic familiarity with the new enemies the sequel is set to introduce to the gaming world. Tyranids are a highly intelligent alien race with a hive mentality and an innate yearning for bloodshed that makes them a formidable foe. With the infamous Tyranid race taking over from the “orkz” of the last game, we will be forced to think on our feet as we stand knee deep in Tyranid blood, battling tooth and nail for survival. Buckle in, Ladies and Gentlemen, this is going to be one hell of a ride.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster
Many of you will remember when Dead Rising first captivated the gaming world in 2006. Ten years later, the iconic title was treated to a HD remaster, bringing in a brand new audience during 2016. Following the first game’s resounding success, two sequels followed. As good as these were, they didn’t quite match up to the first franchise instalment, as is often the case.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is poised and ready to bring the ground-breaking title back and in glorious current generation splendor. Set to release on September 19, this highly anticipated remaster won’t be a mere HD port but a complete overhaul of the Xbox 360 original.
