Aspyr Media Inc. announced today that it has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with Wideload Games to publish it’s first title. Wideload, a new development studio headed by former Bungie founder Alexander Seropian, is currently working on an original game that will be powered by the Halo game engine and released in 2005.
“Topping our why we want to work with Aspyr list’ is their strong reputation of working with top-name companies and staying true to the creator’s vision. This was very appealing to us,” Seropian said. “We’ve known this team for many years and have always been impressed by the creative freedom and the flexibility afforded to their development and content partners. We are going to have a great time playing mad scientists in our lab and then handing off our first born to Aspyr. Their drive and desire to focus on this product and see it succeed matches our own.”
Aspyr president Michael Rogers echoed his new partner’s statement
“Wideload has an incredibly talented team with a proven track record of delivering original games that have sold in the millions. They’re a great team, we’re a great team, and together we’re a powerful combination,” said Rogers. “We’ve padded our walls and removed all sharp objects from our offices, so we can be ready for the craziness that Wideload will deliver.”
Aspyr will be working very closely with Wideload to ensure that their vision for the upcoming game is brought to life. In addition, Aspyr is using it’s magic and film ties to start a campaign that is “as twisted and off that wall as the game itself”.
